The Perfect 3 Step Beard Care Routine for Beginners

The Perfect 3 Step Beard Care Routine for Beginners

Why your Beard sucks

Growing a beard is hard. Itchy hair and dry skin are the two biggest killers of a potentially amazing head of hair. Growing a beard should feel empowering, not overwhelming. Here’s our no nonsense guide to a perfect beard care routine that keeps your face fresh and your beard soft. Follow it for 30 days and watch new growth look intentional instead of accidental.

Step 1: Cleanse

Facial hair can trap sweat, food particles and dead skin faster than scalp hair. Regular shampoos can strip away natural oils, leading to dryness and itching.

What you should do:

  • Daily: Rinse with lukewarm water; massage fingertips into the skin beneath.

  • 2–3× week: Use Apothecary 87 Botanical Shampoo to wash your beard. It is specially formulated to cleanse and wash out product, while maintaining the natural oil levels in your hair

Step 2: Condition & Nourish

Right after cleansing your pores are open, making it easy for your hair and skin to absorb nutrients. Follow up with your preferred product to condition the hair and moisturise the skin.

  1. Beard Oil – Use 3 drops, rub the oil into your palms.  Gently massage the oil into your beard until it is fully absorbed.

  2. Beard Balm – Take a pea sized amount and rub into your palms. Gently massage into your beard and skin underneath to moisturise

Step 3: Style & Protect

Your toolkit:

  • Comb - A good comb will help to not only style your beard, but also distribute any product evenly throughout the hair.

  • Moustache Wax (optional) - Depending on your look, you can use moustache wax to add some extra hold and lock in your style for the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon will I see results?
Our beard products will help to soften hair and reduce itching right away, but only continued use will fight it off for good. We can't promise that our products will help your beard grow, but we know from experience that healthy hair is the best way to promote beard growth.

Do I need a dryer?
You shouldn't use a hairdryer to dry your beard, hot air can damage the hair and reset your progress. If you have to use a hairdryer in a bind, use the cool setting and keep the air moving to avoid any hot spots.
