BEARD FAQs

ITCHING

Why does my beard itch?

The most common cause of beard itching is dry skin & beadruff.

How can I stop my beard from itching?

We recommend using a quality Beard Oil or Beard Balm like the ones developed at Apothecary 87 to hydrate your skin and condition your beard hairs.

WhY DOES MY BEARD ITCH MORE WHEN IT IS SHORTER?

This is likely due to ingrown hairs. When you shave, some hairs may regrow under the skin causing pain and irritation. Make sure to always use a quality shave cream and pre shave oil to aid with a close shave, without trimming hairs too short.

BEARD GROWING

Why is my beard not growing?

Hair growth is influenced by many factors including genetics, hair growth phases, as well as hair & skin health. To give yourself the best chance of growth, make sure you use quality beard care products like our Beard Oil to keep your existing folicles healthy.

Why is my beard patchy?

Hair grows unevenly, especially on your face. Usually patches with less hair are nothing to worry about, and simply require patience to allow the slower hair folicles to grow and fill out your beard. You can try microneedling with a derma-roller to stimulate growth, however there has not yet been a study to prove that they are effective for beard growth.

How long does it take for a beard to grow

Growth depends on many factors that can influence the length of time it takes to reach its full potential. Most people can grow a beard within 2-6 months, however if you haven't grown a full beard in this time, it doesn't mean you can't grow one at all. Have patience and allow hair to grow, in the meantime why not try a Beard Oil to help hydrate your existing facial hair and skin.
